Climate Change is referred to as an increase in the average global temperatures over a long period of time.
Causes of Climate Change are human cause which includes burning of fossil fuels, mining, urban settlement, energy (power) generation, transportation, conversion of land for froestry & agriculture (deforestration & forest degradation).
Scientific studies have indicated that the human activities have contributed more significantly to climate change through the emission of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs).
The three main GHGs that are emitted by human activities are:
Carbon dioxide (CO2) - emitted from burning of fossil fuels (diesel, oil, petrol) and from removal of forest and vegetation cover
Nitrous oxide (N2O) - emitted from synthetic fertilizers, industrial waste & burning of fossil fuels
Methane (Ch4) - emitted by ruminant animals (cattle, goat, sheep), during extraction fossil fuels, from decaying organic matter
(swamp) & waste (rubbish dumps).
Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) is a new government entity that is now undergoing transition from the former Office of Climate Change and Development
"A robust and sustainable economy for Papua New Guinea through a Low Carbon Pathway and Green Economic Growth.” Mission To build a climate resilient and carbon neutral pathway for climate compatible development in Papua New Guinea.
