The Government of Papua New Guinea (Go PNG) through the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) with support from the World Bank’s Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), is conducting a Media Training on Reporting Forest and Carbon Emissions in Papua New Guinea. The Media Training will be held in Kimbe, West New Britain Province from the 8-12 April 2019.
The aim of the Media Training is to support Papua New Guinea’s REDD+ Objectives under UNFCCC,by enhancing knowledge, understanding and communications with all relevant stakeholders on REDD+ and enhance capacity to implement REDD+.
Training of REDD+ journalists strengthens the scope of communication that will efficiently enable transfer of information, knowledge and reporting tools to benefit all levels of governance and decision makers in PNG.
It helps enhance journalistic skills.
It helps build the capacity of climate journalists and communicators for effective communication of usually jargon-laden and highly technical REDD+ information to relevant REDD+ stakeholders and the general public.
The field visits provide and train journalists by helping them to understand the national REDD+ context and better improve on reporting especially on the forestry issues in PNG.
