The National Disaster mitigation policy and disaster risk management strategy focuses on reducing disaster risk throughout the country through establishment of appropriate institutional and legislative mechanism and people centered early warning system. Knowledge, public awareness and education to improve disaster awareness, planning for effective preparedness and recovery and identification of risks and hazards are the key elements of existing disaster management strategies and policies.
