The Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) is Papua New Guinea's leading agency driving climate action and sustainable development. It works to mitigate climate impacts, promote resilience, and integrate environmental sustainability into national policies and community initiatives.
This division leads the implementation of PNG’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP), working to ensure climate resilience and sustainable development across sectors. It also manages climate adaptation projects in collaboration with development partners.
Primary Objective:
Enhance PNG’s adaptive capacity, reduce climate vulnerability, and deliver environmental, social, and economic benefits through participatory, gender-responsive, and locally informed approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
Mainstream adaptation strategies into national and sectoral policies.
Support capacity-building at national and subnational levels.
Coordinate stakeholder engagement and project implementation.
Divisional Goals:
1. Build capacity through education, training, and tools.
2. Support climate-resilient ecosystems and vulnerable groups.
3. Improve stakeholder coordination and private sector engagement.
4. Strengthen national and subnational adaptation strategies.
5. Develop financial mechanisms, including trust funds, for adaptation.
