The Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) is Papua New Guinea's leading agency driving climate action and sustainable development. It works to mitigate climate impacts, promote resilience, and integrate environmental sustainability into national policies and community initiatives.
This division oversees PNG’s National REDD+ Strategy (2017–2027), promoting low-carbon development and forest-based carbon sequestration. It plays a key role in implementing REDD+ safeguards and mitigation actions.
In 2021, CCDA submitted its REDD+ Safeguards Summary of Information to the UNFCCC, supported by a NEC-approved Safeguards Information System (SIS). This milestone enabled PNG to qualify for results-based payments under the REDD+ framework.
