Submission of PNG TREES REGISTRATION Document (TRD), RBP for 2017-2021 crediting period

The Government of Papua New Guinea, through the Climate Change and Development Authority, formally submit the TREES Registration Document (TRD) for Papua New Guinea’s jurisdictional REDD+ programme under the ART-TREES standard. This submission reflects Papua New Guinea’s continued commitment to addressing climate change through the conservation and sustainable management of its forests, which are globally significant for biodiversity and carbon storage. The development of this TRD has been undertaken in accordance with national legislation, including the Climate Change (Management) Act and its 2023 amendments, which provide the legal framework for REDD+ transactions and carbon market participation. The Government, through the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA), has ensured that the TRD is consistent with national policies, safeguards, and institutional arrangements, and reflects a whole-of government approach, including engagement with relevant stakeholders. We respectfully request the Secretariat’s review of this submission and look forward to continued engagement throughout the assessment process. Papua New Guinea remains committed to meeting the requirements of the ART-TREES standard and to advancing high-integrity jurisdictional REDD+ outcomes.
